[en] Before you start working with Reuse, familiarize yourself with the key concepts behind it.
[en] Acrolinx Reuse is a flexible content tool. You can use it to clean up your translation memory, identify new terminology, or introduce slogans and preferred wording. If you want to check, analyze, and standardize your content for consistency, Acrolinx Reuse also has you covered.
[en] For example, the following variations of a sentence might appear in your content:
-
[en] The following items come in your shipment.
-
[en] Your shipment includes the following items.
-
[en] Your package ships with the following items.
[en] Reuse lets you set one of these sentences as your preferred standard.
[en] Acrolinx will recognize sentences that are similar to the chosen standard in a check. It will then suggest the standard sentence, which you can accept with a single mouse click.
[en] Of course, Acrolinx will only show suggestions validated by the system and approved by you.
Warnung
[en] Acrolinx Reuse is only available with Targets. If you don’t have Targets yet, reach out to your Acrolinx contact to take your version of Acrolinx to the next level.
[en] A repository is a way to store expressions that share similar structure and meaning.
[en] You can create a repository with harvested phrases that are stored in sentence banks or with sentences that you import from a text or TMX file. The import feature is useful if you want to add an externally validated content to a new Reuse repository. When you run an Acrolinx check with the built-in Reuse Harvesting Target, Acrolinx will harvest sentences from your content.
[en] Acrolinx groups the sentences in a repository into clusters.
[en] Repositories use clusters to group sentences by structure and meaning. A cluster normally includes several sentences. However, a cluster can also have a single sentence if there are no other similar expressions in the repository.
[en] When Acrolinx groups sentences together, it automatically selects a representative sentence for each cluster. In cases where several variations of the sentence exist in your content, the representative sentence is your preferred wording. That means Acrolinx will recognize sentences that are similar to the preferred standard in a check. It will then suggest the standard sentence, which you can accept with a single mouse click. You can also adjust the representative sentence for each cluster.
[en] To include a Reuse repository in a check, you need to add the Approved Messaging goal to a Target. There, you can select from all Reuse repositories that match the language of the Target. Read more in Approved Messaging.
