For Acrolinx to score your web content, it needs to identify checkable text on your website. To do this, Acrolinx uses a crawler with the user agent "Acrolinx-bot". Acrolinx-bot automatically crawls all the domains in your library on a weekly basis–this is called the "weekly run". The update starts on Friday at 00h00m00s Eastern Time (North America).
Acrolinx-bot accesses your site up to 10 times per second for the duration of a crawl. It requests information about all internal pages within a 15-page depth that it has permission to access. In this case, depth refers to clicks from the start page. Pages might include:
-
HTML pages in the site structure for your domains
-
HTML pages in subdomains
-
Pages with an HTTP error status (for example, 404)
If Acrolinx-bot doesn't find new links within a depth or if it has crawled all pages within the set crawl depth, it will stop a crawl.
Some organizations choose to deny crawlers access to their websites. If you find that Acrolinx-bot can't crawl your site, ask your IT team to add Acrolinx-bot to the company allow list.
Notice
In some cases, your IT department will request the IP address associated with the crawler. Contact Acrolinx Support for this information.
