Click the Options tab in the slide-out menu to get started. The Sidebar options differ depending on whether you have Targets enabled or you use a Guidance Profile to check your content.
Tip
Not sure if you have Targets enabled? Don't worry, there are two ways to find out.
-
In the Options tab of the Sidebar, you can see if a Target or a Guidance Profile is selected.
or
-
Open the Scorecard and search for Checking Information. If it's not there, you're checking with Targets.
With that in mind, read this article to get the information that you'll need to select your guidance.
A Target defines what type of guidance you get for a particular type of content. That means the help you get from the Sidebar. A target has all the goals and guidelines that you need to check a certain type of content. For example, you could have a Target for blog posts and another one for technical documentation. Whoever administers Acrolinx in your company can set these up for you.
Before you start checking, make sure that you have the right Target. Your Acrolinx admin might have already set a preferred Target for you, so only change things here if you're sure you need to.
To change the Target, follow these steps:
-
Click the Options tab in the slide-out menu to get started.
-
To set the Acrolinx options, select an item in the TARGET dropdown. The rest of the settings will be configured for you.
Notice
If you can’t see any Targets in the dropdown, don’t panic. It might be that there’s no Target assigned to you yet or that the relevant language server isn’t available at the moment. Contact your organization’s Acrolinx admin.
A Guidance Profile contains all the Acrolinx settings that you might need to check a certain type of content. For example, you could have a Guidance Profile for blog posts and another one for technical documentation. Whoever administers Acrolinx in your company can set these up for you.
Before you start checking, make sure that you have the right Guidance Profile. Your Acrolinx admin might have already set a preferred Guidance Profile for you, so only change things here if you're sure you need to.
To change the Guidance Profile, follow these steps:
-
Click the Options tab in the slide-out menu to get started.
-
To set the Acrolinx options, select an item in the GUIDANCE PROFILE drop-down. The rest of the settings will be configured for you.
Notice
If you’ve worked with older versions of Acrolinx, you might notice that the checking options aren't available when you select a Guidance Profile. The checking options are set centrally, so you don't have to think about what options to select.
