Warning
Acrolinx has started to phase out support for this. But don’t worry! We've replaced it with Targets. If you have Targets enabled, you already have an easier way to manage your guidance. You might also want to visit our Sunset Policy.
The language and writing guide are the most essential settings in a Checking Profile. Usually, you won’t need to change these settings, but there might be some circumstances where you have to update the language or writing guide.
For example, you might change your guidance package so that the language "English" is split into "English (UK)" and "English (US)". You might also have a writing guide called "Standard" that will be split into "Standard UK" and "Standard US".
Suppose that you have a Checking Profile with the language "English" and the writing guide "Standard". You must edit this Checking Profile to reflect the changes to your guidance package.
To edit the language and writing guide, follow these steps:
-
Navigate toGuidance Settings > Checking Profiles.
-
In the Checking Profiles table, select the profile that you want to edit.
-
In the Checking Profile Settings panel, select the Guidance Settings tab and update theLanguage and Writing Guide fields
If you don’t see your required language or writing guide in the dropdown menus, ensure that the relevant language server is running.
You can also try reloading the relevant language configuration.
If you’ve changed your guidance settings recently, try signing out of the Dashboard and then log back in again.
-
Click Save.
If the Checking Profile is already assigned to users, the changes take effect immediately.
You add target audience types to Checking Profiles after you have set up your tone of voice settings. You might want to assign different audience types to different teams of content contributors. For example, suppose that you have an audience type called "new users" and a Checking Profile for technical writers. You can add the "new user" target scores to the Checking Profile so that technical writers aim for high readability when they run checks.
To add extraction settings to a Checking Profile, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Guidance Settings > Checking Profiles
-
In the Checking Profiles table, select the profile that you want to edit.
-
In theChecking Profile Settings panel, select theGuidance Settings tab and select the required set of targets from theVoice scoring targets dropdown.
-
Click Save.
If the Checking Profile is already assigned to users, the changes take effect immediately.
You might add term sets to Checking Profiles after you have created new term sets on the "Term Sets" page.
To add term sets to a Checking Profile, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Guidance Settings > Checking Profiles
-
In the Checking Profiles table, select the profile that you want to edit.
-
In the Checking Profile Settings panel, select the Guidance Settings tab and click the " + " icon in the Term sets field.
If you see the message "No items available", ensure that you’ve selected the correct writing guide.
Just like the integration interface, the availability of the term sets depends on what writing guide you select. A guidance administrator can restrict term sets to specific writing guides.
You can also try reloading the relevant language configuration.
If you’ve changed your guidance settings recently, try signing out of the Dashboard and then log back in again.
