When you create a Target, you select the goals you’d like to include. Each Target can have one or more goals. It’s easy to add or remove goals later if you need to.
Goals are Required by default. You can set a goal to Recommended, which means Acrolinx will show guidance for it but it won’t count toward your score.
To create a Target, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Targets in your Acrolinx Dashboard.
-
Click CREATE NEW TARGET
to open the Create New Target slide-out dialog.
-
Choose a unique name for your Target, and select the language you’re creating the Target for. You might also add a description.
-
Select your goals from the goal list that appears in the slide out. You'll see this after you select a language. Your Target needs a least one goal.
-
Click Create Target.
The dialog will close and you can immediately start to edit your Target. Don't forget to assign it to the relevant writers.
Once you’ve created a Target, you might want to edit it to get the guidance you prefer. You’ll see your existing Targets in a list on the Targets page.
To edit a Target, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Targets in your Acrolinx Dashboard.
-
Click the name of the Target that you’d like to edit.
-
Optional: To add or remove goals, or to update the Target name or description, click the pen icon
-
Optional: To set a goal to Recommended, use the dropdown next to each goal. If a goal is recommended, Acrolinx will show guidance for it, but it won’t count toward your score
-
Optional: Choose the preset that fits best for each goal. The Acrolinx presets make it easy to pick the type of guidance you’d like, so you don’t have to adjust each individual guideline.
-
Click SAVE.
Note
You can’t change the language of a Target since each language comes with specific goals. If you change a Target’s language, the guidelines won’t match anymore.
If you want to create a second Target that's very similar to the first Target profile, you can copy it. For example, you might want to have two Targets that are similar except for the Terminology used.
To copy a Target, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Targets in your Acrolinx Dashboard.
-
Hover over the Target that you’d like to copy and click Copy Target.
-
Update the Target name to distinguish it clearly from the first profile, and click COPY.
