"Targets" now called "style guides"
To make the language in Acrolinx a little more intuitive, we've renamed Targets to style guides. The feature itself will still work as expected.
When you create a style guide, you select the goals you’d like to include. Each style guide can have one or more goals. It’s easy to add or remove them later if you need to.
Goals are Required by default. You can set them to Recommended, which means Acrolinx will show guidance for it but it won’t count toward your score.
To create a style guide, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Style guides.
-
Click CREATE STYLE GUIDE to open the slide-out dialog.
-
Choose a unique name for your style guide, and select the language you’re creating the style guide for. You might also add a description.
-
Select your goals from the list that appears in the slide-out. You'll see this after you select a language. Your style guide needs a least one goal.
-
Click Create style guide.
The dialog will close and you can immediately start to edit your style guide. Don't forget to assign it to the relevant writers.
Once you’ve created a style guide, you might want to edit it to get the guidance you prefer. You’ll see your existing style guides in a list on the style guides page.
To edit a style guide, follow these steps:
-
Click the name of the style guide that you’d like to edit.
-
Optional: To add or remove goals, or to update the style guide name or description, click the pen icon.
-
Optional: To set a goal to recommended, use the dropdown next to each goal. Then Acrolinx will show guidance for it, but it won’t count toward your score.
-
Optional: Choose the preset that fits best for each goal. The Acrolinx presets make it easy to pick the type of guidance you’d like, so you don’t have to adjust each individual guideline.
-
Click SAVE.
-
Optional: Save with a comment. To better track the changes, add a comment. View changes in the Recent activities slide-out.
Note
You can’t change the language of a style guide since each language comes with specific goals. If you change a style guide’s language, the guidelines won’t match anymore.
If you want to create a second style guide that's very similar to another style guide, you can copy it. For example, you might want to have two style guides that are similar except for the terminology used.
To copy a style guide, follow these steps:
-
Hover over the style guide that you’d like to copy and click Copy style guide.
-
Update the style guide name to distinguish it clearly from the first profile, and click COPY.
-
Remember to assign the style guide to your writers. Assign Style Guides
You might delete a style guide if you want to change your configurations into fewer style guides.
To delete a style guide, follow these steps:
-
Hover over the style guide that you’d like to delete and click the trash bin icon.
-
Optional: Add a comment. View changes in the Recent activities slide-out.
-
Click DELETE in the dialog box.
In the Recent activities slide-out, you can view who created, edited, or deleted a style guide and when. Start tracking your changes and click the clock icon on the style guide main page.
