Now that you’ve created a Target, you need to make sure that the right writers are using it.
For example, you might want technical writers like us to check with a Target for technical content. Your marketing team, on the other hand, might need to check with Targets for marketing content like blog posts or company announcements. With Targets assignments, you can limit access to different Targets.
Manage your assignments directly in the Targets section of the Acrolinx Dashboard. To do this, you'll need the Acrolinx privilege Edit Targets.
You’ll find a list of your Targets in the slide-out menu that opens when you click MANAGE ASSIGNMENTS.
Tip
You'll see the number of Targets that need an assignment in the red notification at the upper-right corner of this button.

In the "Options" tab of the Sidebar menu, writers will see a list of the Targets assigned to them. Depending on what they check, they might rely on a few different Targets in this list. To help writers use the right Targets, you might want to make sure that the Targets appear in a specific order. You can use drag and drop to order the list of Targets in the Target Assignments slide-out menu. The Target at the top of the list will be the preferred Target for the assigned writers. It will appear at the top of their Targets list in the Sidebar and will be their preferred Target when they sign in for the first time. This means that different writers will see different lists in their Sidebar options depending on the Targets assigned to them.
To order the list, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Targets and click on MANAGE ASSIGNMENTS to open the slide-out menu.
-
Hover over a Target assignment card.
-
Click and hold the drag icon
to drag it to preferred position.
Let's say you have a Target called "Company Content", which is assigned to all writers since all of them should use it. You also have the technical writers Christina and Gustav (no, that’s not us) who should have the Target "Technical Documentation" as their preferred default. In this case, you would drag Technical Documentation to the top of the list so it appears above Company Content. All other writers would still get Company Content as their preferred Target, but Christina and Gustav would see Technical Content first. If needed, they could still select Company Content.

Warning
Remember, the preferred Target is selected by default when a writer connects to an Acrolinx Integration for the first time. If a writer changes the Target in their Acrolinx Integration, the changed selection gets stored in the user properties. When they reopen the integration, the user-selected Target is selected by default instead of the preferred Target.
