Note
You'll need administrator rights for your operating system to install Acrolinx for Arbortext.
Check our Compatibility Guide if you want to know whether Acrolinx for Arbortext works with your local platforms.
Before you install, make sure to do the following:
First, make sure you've installed everything you need — see the section Before You Install.
To install Acrolinx for Arbortext, follow these steps:
-
Download the Acrolinx for Arbortext .msi file from your company download area, or get it from your Acrolinx administrator.
-
Close any open instances of Arbortext Editor.
-
Double-click the .msi file and follow the installer instructions.
Acrolinx automatically installs to your local default custom directory. Learn more about custom directories.
If you use a non-default custom directory and have installed Acrolinx, you need to specify Acrolinx's location. This will help Arbortext find the Acrolinx Integration.
There are two ways to specify the location:
-
Manually copy the following Acrolinx files from your default custom directory to your non-default custom directory. Store the files in the respective subdirectories (for example, "dialogs") of the non-default custom directory. The file paths should look like this:
C:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor X.X\custom\dialogs\acrolinxIcon16px.png C:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor X.X\custom\init\acrolinx_sidebar.acl C:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor X.X\custom\classes\acrolinx_sidebar.jar
-
Use the
APTCUSTOM
environment variable to tell Arbortext where to find the Acrolinx files. To include the default custom directory, you can use the symbolic variable%D
:APTCUSTOM=c:\custom1;d:\custom2;%D
To update Acrolinx for Arbortext, simply install the new version (as described above).
