During installation, the SharePoint administrator can make the integration available for all libraries within the SharePoint tenant, or activate it for a SharePoint site manually.
If you want to make the integration available for all libraries, read Install Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint. To activate it manually for a specific SharePoint site, follow the steps under Activate Microsoft 365 SharePoint Manually.
Check our Compatibility Guide if you want to know whether Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint works with your local platforms.
Before you install, make sure you have the following:
Once you install Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint, you'll need too grant Acrolinx access to the SharePoint site collection where you want to use Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint. This is because Acrolinx is a backend service within Azure (web application), and backend services don't have an assigned user context.
You'll grant this via API permissions in the Azure application registration. Acrolinx requests the application permission Sites.Selected
. That means you need to grant the permission for the application to each site collection explicitly.
You can grant permission in 3 different ways:
-
Grant via PowerShell - The Microsoft 365 administrator needs to approve the app manually for the dedicated site collection via Graph Explorer or PowerShell.
-
Grant via Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint - The site owner first needs to approve Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint for the selected site collection via the Acrolinx app.
-
No Approval - No restriction on using Acrolinx to access resources from SharePoint — you can use Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint immediately.
The Microsoft 365 administrator needs to approve the app manually for the dedicated site collection. The SharePoint site owner can't use Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 SharePoint immediately after adding the app.
To set up this access level, follow the steps described in the Grant-PnPAzureADAppSitePermission cmdlet.
