This time around, we've made a small UI improvement and we've fixed a bug that affected highlighting in Word and PowerPoint.
-
Improved UI - In the event that Acrolinx is no longer compatible with your version of Microsoft 365 Office, you'll now see a message directly in the Sidebar. For more information about which versions of Microsoft 365 Office we support, visit the Integrations Compatibility Guide.
This release fixes a couple of checking bugs.
-
Replacements removed footnotes - Sidebar replacements would remove special elements from your content. These included things like footnotes, endnotes, and diagrams. We've added a new error to the Sidebar to make replacement behavior clearer.
-
Highlighting issues - Acrolinx couldn't highlight issues in text sections that also contained special elements like footnotes, endnotes, or diagrams. This made it difficult to apply suggestions to your content. We've fixed this. Acrolinx now highlights the content as expected.
We've updated our 3.1 release to better align with your needs and included some bug fixes.
-
Check documents without MIP label - In our 3.1 release, we released a feature that prevents checking documents if Microsoft Information Protection is set up. We've changed this implementation to better align with your needs. You'll be able to check even if there isn’t a MIP label set on the document.
Notice
Please consult our Acrolinx Support to configure checking a document without the MIP label.
-
PowerPoint with third-party diagrams - In some cases, when a PowerPoint Presentation had diagrams generated by a third-party solution, an Acrolinx check would lead to an error. We've fixed this.
-
Grayed out cards - When you selected an issue card for a paragraph the card grayed out and Acrolinx didn't highlight the issue correctly. This is fixed.
-
Paragraphs with footnotes or endnotes -Acrolinx can now highlight paragraphs with footnotes or endnotes. If there’s an issue and the suggestion would remove or change a foot- or endnote, you'll get a read-only card.
This release comes with a highly anticipated feature: detection of Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) sensitivity labels. We've also fixed a handful of bugs that affected the checking experience.
-
Support for MIP labels - If you protect your content with MIP sensitivity labels, we've got good news — Acrolinx now detects sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 Office. This means you can exclude sensitive content from your Acrolinx checks.
Tip
To start using this feature, send a list of your organization's accepted sensitivity labels to Acrolinx Support.
-
Wrong word highlighted - Acrolinx would partially highlight a word or highlight the wrong word if the word appeared multiple times in your content. We’ve updated our lookup logic to make sure this doesn't happen anymore.
-
Wrong order of Sidebar cards - In some cases, the Sidebar cards were out of order and would jump to random places when clicked. This is fixed.
-
Check selection issue in PowerPoint - Check Selection wasn’t working in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365. We've fixed it.
-
Approved Messaging issues - Issues for the Approved Messaging goal in weren't working quite right. Highlighting was off and replacements weren't added correctly. Everything is now working as expected.
We’re excited to announce that the Acrolinx Sidebar is now available in M365 Outlook online!
-
Check with Acrolinx in Outlook - You can now use a lighter version of the Acrolinx Sidebar to check your emails with Acrolinx. We can't offer the full Sidebar because of limitations in the API. Learn more in What You Can Check.
Notice
Note that for Acrolinx in Outlook you need to follow a separate installation step to install the manifest. Read on in Install, Update, or Uninstall.
Released 3 November 2023
This release focuses on a few issues that popped up in Microsoft 365 PowerPoint for the web.
-
Acrolinx checks stuck - Sometimes Acrolinx would get stuck when you tried to run a check. We've fixed this. Checking should work as expected.
-
Error message not showing - Acrolinx can’t check password-protected files in PowerPoint for the web, but the error message for this wasn't working. We've fixed this — you'll now see an error message when a file is password-protected.
Released 7 August 2023
We’re excited to announce that the Acrolinx Sidebar is now available in PowerPoint for the web! Learn more about what you can check.
We're dropping by with a quick service release. This time, we've fixed a bug that caused your Sidebar cards to gray out.
We recommend that you use:
-
Acrolinx Platform 2020.02 or later
-
Microsoft 365 Word version 16.x
Good news! We’ve updated the start page that you land on when you access the Sidebar. Just a few small changes, but now it's more consistent across your integrations.
Sometimes when you clicked on a Sidebar card, it would gray out for no reason. This happened when an issue had more than 255 characters. No worries, we've fixed it. Your Sidebar cards now work as expected.
We recommend that you only use Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 Word with documents that you create in Microsoft 365. If you create documents with the desktop edition of Word and upload them to OneDrive, Acrolinx for Microsoft 365 Word might not read all of your content. This is because Microsoft 365 doesn't support all of the same features as the desktop edition of Word.
Track Changes Not SupportedIf you enable "Track Changes" in Microsoft 365, unwanted characters might get added to your document when you click on a Sidebar card. To avoid this, we recommend that you switch off "Track Changes" when you use Acrolinx.
Acrolinx Icon HiddenSometimes, when you upload a file to OneDrive, the Acrolinx add-in icon doesn't show up where you'd expect. You can solve this by manually inserting the Acrolinx for Office add-in to Microsoft 365. Read more about this under "Where's my Sidebar?" .
