Microsoft Windows | All Versions |
Sometimes the "Add or Remove Programs" function found within each version of Windows 7 and Windows 10 doesn’t entirely remove a guidance package installation. This can sometimes lead to an issue where you would like to install new guidance package the computer won’t let you as it thinks guidance package are still installed. In this case a Microsoft Window Error Message will inform you of this.
Solution
In a scenario such as this, open the Windows registry editor.
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Type regedit
- Hit return
- Browse to:
For a 64-bit computer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\acrolinx\acrolinxIQ\resources
For a 32-bit computer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\acrolinx\acrolinxIQ\resources
If there’s a "resources" directory available from this location, please ensure you delete it. Now try running your Acrolinx Guidance Package installer once again, the installation should now be successful. Please contact support if this isn’t the case.
