Structure your content so readers can find and understand the main points quickly. It’s much easier to scan content if it has a clear structure. When you add titles, subtitles, lists, and images, your content is eye-catching and easy to read. Acrolinx helps you to keep a clear and consistent structure.
Acrolinx provides presets that are suitable for a lot of content needs. These presets give you the freedom to choose the guidance you want, so there’s no need to adjust each individual guideline.
With Scannability, you can select between highly structured content, like HTML, and content that has less structure, like Word documents. Choose the preset Basics if your writers work with word-processing applications like Acrolinx for Word, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Wordpress, Figma, and Acrolinx browser integrations. This content has fewer structure indicators, so Acrolinx won't get much information on its structure during a check. The preset Highly structured is meant for writers who work with formats like XML, HTML, and so on. Markup languages like these place a structure around the text and images in a document. This gives Acrolinx more information about the structure of the content.
To select a preset, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Style > Style guides and click the name of the style guide you'd like to edit.
-
Click on the goal Scannability to expand it.
-
Select the preset you prefer from the dropdown.
You can of course make changes to the individual guidelines to create a custom preset. See Fine-tune your Goals.
Warning
Careful, you can only create one custom preset for each goal within a style guide.
