The support for classic Reuse will end with the 2023.10 release. We've introduced a modernized Reuse feature with an improved UI and more checking capabilities. Learn more about it in our Reuse Quick Start.
Learn how to import sentences for reuse.
Before You Import
-
You can add harvested sentences to existing repositories. Add sentences from an import file to a new repository that you create during the import process.
-
Acrolinx doesn’t group imported sentences. It will group every sentence in the import file into a separate cluster.
-
TEXT files must have one sentence per line and TMX files must have only one sentence per segment. When a line or segment has more than one sentence, Acrolinx Reuse will ignore and log the affected line or segment.
-
If a sentence includes special characters, Acrolinx might interpret it as two sentences and ignore it.
To import a TEXT or TMX file, follow these steps:
-
Navigate to Reuse > Repository Tools > Sentence Import.
-
Under File Options, select the file format you prefer.
-
If you’re importing a TEXT file, click the dropdown next to Encoding to choose an encoding format.
-
Use the Browse button to locate the file you want to import.
-
Click Next. The Import Preview page will display the first few rows of your import file.
-
Confirm that the preview of the import file looks correct and click Next. When you import a TEXT file, some characters might look funny in the import preview. If this is the case, click Back and adjust the Encoding field.
-
Under Repository Options, select the Repository language and enter the Repository name.
-
If you’re importing a TMX file, select the language of the sentences to import in the TMX language dropdown.
-
Click Finish.
-
The Import Summary page will appear. When the import begins, a progress bar will display underneath the Navigation Menu until the import operation completes. Use the Progress page to see more details on the import progress and estimated completion time. Don’t worry, you can continue to use the Dashboard while the import is running.
Tip
If you want to import another file, click Start New Import.
View the import log messages to verify that the import was successful.
The Dashboard features a generic inbox. You can use this to view log messages for import tasks that run in the background. You'll see this inbox at the top right of your screen in the Dashboard menu.
When an import is complete, an unread envelope icon will appear next to the Messages menu. This means that you have a new import log message.
To open an import log message, follow these steps:
-
Click the Messages menu item in the Dashboard Menu.
-
In the Messages window, click an unread message. The Log Message window opens and a summary of the import will appear in a text box.
-
Click Download Detailed Import Log at the bottom of the Log Message window to download a complete log of the import.
When you restart the Acrolinx Core Server, you’ll no longer see import log messages in the Messages window. Don’t worry, the detailed log files are still in the server output directory.
