What You Should Know Before Installing
Check our compatibility guide if you want to know if the Desktop Checker works with your local platform and with your Acrolinx platform.
The Desktop Checker works a little differently to other Acrolinx integrations. With the Desktop Checker, you can check your Clipboard content with the Sidebar and an integrated text editor.
To get started, review the following tasks and concepts:
Acrolinx checks all plain text that you added to the Clipboard by copying or cutting.
The Sidebar of the Desktop Checker comes with a text editor field. If you open the Desktop Checker the content of your Clipboard appears automatically in the text field. To check new content, you can either paste the text directly into the text field or click CHECK when you've added new content to the Clipboard. You can then check and correct your content the same way as with any other Sidebar. But you need to copy and paste the corrected text back to where it belongs afterwards.
The Desktop Checker comes with your Acrolinx for Mac package.
If you do the installation yourself, ask your Acrolinx administrator for the installer file. You might have it already, if you and the Acrolinx administrator are the same person.
Here's how to install Acrolinx:
To change your Acrolinx server address or the location of your logs, select Acrolinx icon in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences .
Note that changes in your preferences apply after you close and reopen the Desktop Checker. You might need to sign in again after you've changed the server address.
- To use the Desktop Checker, you need to enable a separate license.
