You can use a cross-reference to refer to a term in another term entry. Cross-references can help to you to understand how terms relate to one another. Insert cross-references in descriptive fields so the referenced term is hyperlinked in the term help. When you open the term help, you can click a cross-referenced term to open the help for that term.
You can only add cross-references to fields that are configured to accept HTML.
To cross-reference a term, follow these steps:
-
Open a term and find a field that has the cross-reference button beside it.
The fields where this button appears can be different for each installation. The visibility of button depends on how your Acrolinx administrator has configured your custom fields. For example, if your administrator has added a context field and configured it as HTML, the button appears beside the context field.
-
Place your cursor where you want the cross-reference to appear in the field.
-
Click the cross reference button and search for the term that you want to cross-reference.
When you select the term, the Terminology Manager inserts HTML for the cross-reference at the cursor location.
Your changes are saved immediately.
-
(Optional) Preview your cross-reference by clicking the preview button that appears next to the field.
Click your cross-reference to confirm that it links to the correct term.
