Question
Why do I have to click Restore/Undo several times in MS Word to get the original state of my document after a check?
Answer
Using the Word option "Undo" after having accepted a replacement suggestion (e.g. for a missing comma) results in the text being deleted - both, the replaced text as well as the just inserted suggested text. Clicking again on "Undo" (and again), then word after word of the originally existing text is reappearing.
Technically Acrolinx is retrieving multiple replacements from the platform which the sidebar integration proceeds in order. In the example of a missing comma the sidebar does five replacements in the word file (even it looks like one for the user), that’s why the end user also needs to undo 5 times to get back to the inital state. The reason for multiple operations in replacement is to make sure Acrolinx is not breaking the document. If we "club" all operation in one action it increases the risk of document structure breakage.
