Learn how to use the AI Assistant, and get some tips on how to create effective prompts.

Here are the options that you'll see when you use the AI Assistant.

Bookmark text |
Bookmark text that you want to keep track of. That way, you can easily find what you're looking for. This is especially useful if you're working with longer paragraphs. |
Open in a new tab |
Open a specific output in another tab. This makes it easy to compare different versions side by side. The new tab will stay open, even if you clear all bookmarks. |
Copy |
Copy the output and paste it wherever you need. |
When you ask questions or write prompts, it's best to use simple, direct language. Split up long sentences, remove any unnecessary details, and be as specific as possible. For example, instead of "Write a follow-up" you could say “Write a follow-up to the previous text.”

If you're not sure how to start, you can click Get ideas to display a list of predefined prompts.
To generate text, do the following:

Open the Sidebar and click the AI Assistant tab. If needed, select a style guide from the list of available style guides. By default, the Assistant will use the style guide settings from the Sidebar.

Enter a prompt with some specifics. This could be a question, task, or topic.

Use open-ended questions to generate useful text, for example "Why ..." and "How ..."

Tasks should be clear and contain a topic. This could be something like "Write a paragraph about ...","Summarize the text ...","Create an overview of ...","List ..."

Combine a prompt with text. Just paste the text quotation marks after a question. For example, Can you write an introduction for this text? "TEXT"

Click the arrow icon or press the Enter key to submit your request. The output and Acrolinx Score will appear after a few seconds.

Optional: To adjust the output, give Acrolinx additional instructions like "Summarize it," "Make it shorter," or "Give me another example." This will create a new text output.

Optional: To keep track of the outputs you prefer, you can use the bookmark option.
You can also use the AI Assistant to rewrite and edit existing content.
To rewrite existing text, do the following:

Open the Sidebar and click the AI Assistant tab. If needed, select a style guide from the list of available style guides. By default, the Assistant will use the style guide settings from the Sidebar.

Copy the text that you would like to rephrase and paste it into the text field. The AI Assistant can process up to 1500 words.

Click the arrow icon or press the Enter key to submit your request. Acrolinx automatically aligns your content with the selected style guide and displays the Acrolinx Score. Generated content isn't fact checked.

Copy the output and paste it into your preferred authoring environment.

Optional: To adjust the output, give Acrolinx additional instructions like "Summarize it," "Make it shorter," or "Give me another example." This will create a new text output.

Prompts should refer directly to the text you'd like to improve. This could be something like "Summarize this text," or "Create an overview for this text."

Get ideas is designed to help you get started with the AI Assistant. If the generic prompt suggestions aren't specific enough, you can always add more specific details to the prompt before you submit it.
To get ideas, do the following:

Open the Sidebar and click the AI Assistant tab.

Click Get ideas.

Select a prompt from the dropdown. If you want to make the prompt more specific, add a topic or more details. For example, “Write a follow-up paragraph that includes the word ‘colorful’”.

Click the arrow icon or press the Enter key to submit your request.

Review the response. Acrolinx automatically aligns your content with the selected style guide and displays the Acrolinx Score.

Let's say you want to write a text about strawberries. Your interaction with the AI Assistant could go as follows:

Open the Sidebar and click the AI Assistant tab.

Enter "Write a short text about strawberries" and press the Enter key.
The AI Assistant will reply with a generic text about strawberries that aligns with your style guide.

Review the output. Does the Acrolinx Score match your standards?

If you're happy with the content, but not with your Acrolinx Score, ask the Assistant to "Rephrase the text" or "Rewrite the text."

If the generated text isn't detailed enough for you, ask something more specific like "Incorporate more information about the taste of strawberries. "
This will rework the original output to include more information about the taste of strawberries.

If you want to make it shorter or suitable for social media, tell Acrolinx to "Shorten the previous text" or “Turn the previous text into a social media post.”

If you want to compare different versions of the text generated, you can Click open in a new tab next to a section of text.
