Question
You can configure and customize many aspects of Acrolinx. These include individual configurations of features as well as customizations of the user interface. If you update your installation, you want to maintain all these custom configurations.
Answer
You can maintain custom configurations by adding overlay copies of the relevant software files to the server configuration directory. The configuration directory is a location outside of the server installation directory. An overlay copy is a copy of the standard software file that is stored in the configuration directory with the same subdirectory structure as the installation directory. You can use overlays to keep your configurations separate from the configuration updates that are delivered as part of each new release.
You can find detailed information in the configuration section of the Server Administration Guide.
