If the computer on which the Acrolinx Server is installed is subject to its IP address being changed, and other computers need to connect to that server as clients, then it is better to use a host name as the Acrolinx installation address instead of the IP address number.
As long as you can arrange for a fixed name for the server, dynamic IP addresses are not a problem. For example, you could use "example.org" if your IT department does not run a name server. If no other computers need to connect to the Acrolinx server, then it is best to use 127.0.0.1 as the IP address when installing the server and the clients. This tells the client software that it should always connect to the same computer on which it is installed, for example a roaming laptop.
