Acrolinx uses character codes to indicate characters that have a special meaning for the layout of text. These codes are helpful if you have style guidelines that prompt user to use these characters in certain contexts. For example, you might have a guideline that requires users to add a non-breaking space between a number and a unit of measurement. If a user writes "100 km" with a normal space, Acrolinx flags the text and provides a suggestion that contains a non-breaking space. Because the suggested text is the same as the original text, Acrolinx uses the underscore character "_" to indicate the non-breaking space. The suggestion for "100 km" would appear as "100_km ".
