Acrolinx for Lotus Notes - Version 4.7 SR1 (28 April 2016)
This is a minor release but it also includes a few other improvements, bug fixes, and updates.
Support for the Acrolinx SEO feature
The plug-in supports the Acrolinx SEO functionality for search engine optimization. You can use the SEO checking option to check your documents for compliance with individual SEO guidelines, for example your pre-approved keywords. This feature requires a supported server version (3.0 and later), configured linguistic resources, and must be enabled in your license.
Acrolinx for Lotus Notes - Version 4.7 (21 March 2016)
This is a minor release but it also includes a few other improvements, bug fixes, and updates.
Also, if you've read the plug-documentation before, you might be accustomed to visiting our old infocenter at "infocenter.acrolinx.com". While older versions of the documentation are still there, we've moved the latest documentation to the section " Using Acrolinx in your Editor - Classic Edition " in this help center.
Rebranded Acrolinx Logo and Icons
We've updated all icon images and the Acrolinx logo that appear in the product.
Added the new Acrolinx Scorecard
When a check is complete, Acrolinx now generates a Scorecard that describes the detected issues. The new Scorecard replaces both the existing checking report and the results dialog. The Scorecard includes several improvements over the checking report. For example, the information is now displayed in an optimized way and the general navigation has been improved. You also benefit from the increased interactive options on the Scorecard. For example, you can hover over many elements on the Scorecard to display extra information and options. To display the Scorecard, you must use an Acrolinx server version 4.0 or later.
You can now enter your custom information directly in the plug-in
If your administrator has configured Acrolinx to collect custom information, you must enter this information before you can run a check. The plug-in now displays the custom information form in a window directly in your editor. Previously, the plug-in opened a new page in your web browser. This change makes it easier for you to enter your custom information and makes the user experience more intuitive. To display the custom information form inside your editor, you must connect to an Acrolinx server version 4.0 or later.
You can now select checking profiles in the plug-in options
If you connect to an Acrolinx server that uses checking profiles, you can now select the checking profiles directly in the plug-in interface. With checking profiles, you can check your documents without configuring checking options or segmentation settings first. For example, a checking profile contains the configuration for the language, the rule set, the issue types, and if necessary, the term sets. Also, the checking profile contains all necessary filter and segmentation options so that Acrolinx can correctly extract the text.
We've removed the documentation that's packaged with the Plug-in
We've removed the documentation that's packaged with the Word plug-in. Now, when you select "Help" in the Word plug-in, you'll be taken to the article Using Acrolinx in your Editor - Classic Edition in this help center.
We want to make sure that you get the most up-to-date help so that's why we take you to the online help center. If you have writers who need offline help, you can click the PDF button at the top of an article. Download the PDF and distribute it to the writers who need to access the information offline.
We now support Microsoft Windows 10.
We've added official support for Lotus Notes version 9.0.1.
Notable Bug Fixes
Text Disappeared from Sentence Field of Corrections Dialog box
In previous versions of Acrolinx for Lotus Notes, the text displayed in the sentence field of the corrections dialog box sometimes disappeared and reappeared if you clicked in the sentence field. We fixed this issue so now after a check completes, the corrections dialog appears, and you click in the corrections dialog, the text should no longer disappear from the sentence field.
Acrolinx dialog boxes lose focus and appear behind other windows
When you use Acrolinx and Notes, other applications sometimes steal the focus and Acrolinx dialog boxes appear behind other windows. For example, you might be changing the settings on the filter tab of the Acrolinx options, but when you click Save to return to the Check settings, the Acrolinx options unexpectedly disappears behind other windows. Due to API limitations of Notes, we cannot force Acrolinx windows to always appear on top. Tip: Remember that an Acrolinx message or dialog might be open but you cannot see it. As a workaround, minimize or close other application windows to see if any Acrolinx messages or dialog boxes are hiding.
Acrolinx for IBM Lotus Notes - Version 2.0 SR5 (16 May 2013)
Version 2.0 SR5 is a service release that resolves an important bug in the software.
The user documentation did not require any updates.
The text "<!*++*!>" was inserted into the document when users selected replacements
When users selected a suggested replacement for a flag, the plug-in inserted the text "<!*++*!>" as part of the replacement. This issue occurred when the flagged text included characters that had different formatting to the rest of the text. This issue has now been resolved and the text "<!*++*!>" is no longer inserted as part of the replacement. Instead, the extra formatting is removed from the affected characters. The next available space in the text receives this formatting instead. For example, the text "The <b>functions</b> are important" becomes "The functions<b> </b>are important".
Acrolinx for IBM Lotus Notes - Version 2.0.1
When checking a Lotus Notes document, all standard fields are now included in the check.
Instead of checking one field at a time, you can now check all fields by running a one check. By default, all fields in the document that contain standard text are included. However you can also filter out any fields that should not be checked or use the "Check Field" function to check one field only.
Ability to filter fields that should be checked
The plug-in options now include a filter tab that you can use to include or exclude fields in a check.
Added a separate "Check Field" function
The Acrolinx menu and toolbar now contain an extra "Check Field" menu item and button. You can use this function to check the field that you are currently editing in the document.
Add words to a custom spelling dictionary
You can now add words that have been incorrectly flagged as spelling issues to a custom dictionary. Words that are in one of your custom dictionaries are not flagged as spelling issues. You can add words to a dictionary that is specific to a document, rule set, or user ID.
Administrators can configure server notifications to inform users of maintenance tasks or planned outages that affect the checking functionality. The plug-in displays these notifications when the options menu is opened or before a check is started. If it is a message with the importance Normal, it is only displayed once. If it is a message with the importance High, it is displayed every time the user opens the Options menu or runs a check.
Additional user information prompt
Administrators can configure the Acrolinx Server to prompt users for additional user information when they start using Acrolinx . If this feature is activated, you must enter the required information before you can run checks with the plug-in.
Separate checking option and flag color for admitted terms
If you have configured the server to use a customized admitted term status, you can use the "Admitted Terms" checking option to flag admitted terms separately from deprecated and valid terms.
The plug-in interface is now available in Swedish
Renamed the terminology checking option and removed the dependency between the terminology option and the valid or admitted term options
The terminology option has been renamed to "deprecated terms". Additionally, you can now select valid and admitted terms without having to include deprecated terms as well.
Users can submit terms directly from the corrections dialog
When harvesting terms, users can select the option "Contribute Term" from the corrections dialog to submit new terms for the terminology database.
Ignore a valid term in the whole document.
Previously it was possible to ignore a deprecated term in the whole document but not a valid term. This functionality has now been extended to valid terms.
Improved error messages for LDAP
Clarified the content of the error message the is displayed when users try to connect to Acrolinx but are not members of an authorized LDAP group.
When installing the Lotus Notes plug-in, Windows 7 displayed an error message stating that a message could not be displayed on the desktop
Due to enhanced security settings, Windows 7 suppressed certain messages that were displayed by the Acrolinx plug-in installer. The installer has now been updated so that this error message no longer appears.
When checking with some versions of an Acrolinx plug-in, a message always appeared in the core server log file stating that some users to not have the correct term harvesting privilege.
The core server log files recorded a missing privilege for term harvesting for users ran any kind of check - even for users who did not enable term harvesting. The plug-in logging has been updated so that a missing privilege is only logged for users who attempt to enable term harvesting.
The plug-in crashes when users attempt to contribute a new term from a sentence that also contains the character "%"
When users click "Contribute term" in the correction dialog box or the plug-in shortcut menu, Windows reports an error and forces plug-in to shut down. This issue occurs when users contribute a term from a sentence that also contains the character "%". When sending a new term to the server, the plug-in also sends the sentence where the term was found. The character "%" prevents the server from interpreting the sentence correctly. To avoid this issue, temporarily remove the character "%" from the sentence, run another check, and contribute the term again.
