Did you hear that Google and Mozilla are changing some certificate handling in their browsers soon?
Are You Affected?
This is relevant to you if you use either Chrome, Chromium, or Firefox as a browser and run Acrolinx securely with HTTPS. It then depends on the issuer of your HTTPS certificate. If your certificate issuer is Symantec or one of its subsidiaries like Thawte, RapidSSL or GeoTrust, and the certificate was issued before December 2017, you need to take action now.
What To Do?
You need to get a new certificate and install it on your Acrolinx server as usual with the help of our 'Securing your Acrolinx Server with HTTPS' article.
The security teams of Google and Mozilla consider the infrastructure of Symantec compromised and thus every certificate issued with that infrastructure. They’ll partially stop trusting Symantec certificates in April 2018 and completely by the end of 2018.
We found the following article to be a good summary of events: Chrome and Firefox to Distrust Symantec’s SSL Certificates by the End of 2018.
